What is this Ledger
Its a privacy ledger. (goto the Link at the bottom of the post)
It is a tool like a Calculator-Ledger or a spreadsheet, and not a full-fledged accounting software.
It is also a fun Ledger. You can doodle your numbers, plans, strategies, costings, what-if scenarios, goals, projects, etc.
There are no fixed rules, no strict accounting practices. You do your accounting the way it suits you. Your work, your way.
Be as strict or as lax as you want to be with it.
And you can even use it like a diary, like a spreadsheet; Just ignore the debits credit entries, or do the number entries only for the dates that matter.
What makes it special and versatile are the following 2 points:
1. Your data stays with you, on your device.
And it can be saved as your local file, or as many files as you like.
So now you can have multiple ledgers, and diaries (text only, not formatting).
Moreover, you will never lose your data – because the data text files are human readable, (in json text format), so that you do not even need this software to read your entries.
2. It is dynamic search based, with dynamic Balance calculations.
The Balances calculate dynamically, based on the Search or Tag filters.
Tag anything, Categorise anything, or don’t. It searches everything that you can put in the Search Bar (On top),
and the Balances of the same will be dynamically be calculated for that search input , or Tag , or Category.
You even have the option to Rename the Search and Category to make your ledger meaningful ; and you can filter your entries with them.
The balances are , again dynamically reflected.
And it is Fast !
Also everything is optimised. Your saved Data files are tiny, with no unnecessary code.
You can run your life, and small business, on a small pen drive !
For example
For example you may have separate ledgers for all your banks, in a single file, and Filter by Bank Name to see that Bank Ledger.
Likewise you can have a single file for all your Customers and Vendors, and see the Balance that you may filter( or search) partywise, or bank-wise, or product-wise etc
This is usable for projects, or home expenses, or business, or just that Goa Trip.
The Tags and Categories may be renamed accordingly, which your data file will remember and change in the ledger app tag filters for you.

It is versatile , because it has dynamic search, and you can tag anything.
There is No login, no data asked from you. It will run from whichever device and browser you have.
You can use it like a diary too!
Leave the credit debit fields blank if you want too.
Every entry has an associated full note or memo diary entry, which is also fully searchable, and optionally taggable.
Diary entries with content show in blue color, empty diaries are grey.
How and Why of this app
I made it because nothing like this exists, and that I may use for myself.
I do not want to fire up an accounting tool everytime , for so many things (see examples above too)…
For eg., to check out how much was spent on what for a week long marriage function – food, travel, gifts, party location, etc.
Or, Also for that Gia Trip with family and friends, I again do not want an accounting software, just to see who spent what from the money-pool and share reimburse later.
Or, even for the costing of aproduction item in my factory for a particular batch – the labour, input costs, process-wise, packing, taxes, margins, etc
The other reason I made this was – that I needed to experiment with vibe coding with the popular AIs on a Sunday afternoon,
without the help of a programmer or developer.
How to Use?
There are just 2 rows.
The first row is for Search, and Filters.
The 2nd Row, starting with the Date Calendar, is for entry and updation.
Debits entries show with negative sign in red, Credit in green.
Number format is Indian ( Crores, Lakhs)
Load and Save your files as usual.
Don’t forget to Save !
